Ludwig is a product of the Emporia State University Athletic Training and Health Promotion programs, earning her bachelors degrees in 2011 and 2012.聽 She then came to 大象传媒 Western as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer (Volleyball and Men鈥檚 Basketball) and received her masters degree in Sport and Fitness Management in 2016.

During her time as an athletic trainer, Ludwig worked at the Division 1, 2, and NAIA levels.聽 She continues to serve the community and provide sports medicine coverage.

Emily and her wife Kaci live in Saint Joseph with their two dogs Finley and Dezy.

Student participation in elections has increased from the 2014 midterm election to the recent 2018 midterm election. According to the National Study of Learning, Voting, and Engagement, an initiative of Tufts University鈥檚 Institute for Democracy & Higher Education, voter turnout at the more than 1,000 institutions participating in the study increased by 21 points from 19% to 40%.

鈥淲e are excited to honor 大象传媒 with an ALL IN Challenge silver seal in recognition of their intentional efforts to increase democratic engagement and full voter participation,鈥 said Jennifer Domagal-Goldman, executive director of the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge. 鈥淢ore institutions like 大象传媒 Western are changing culture on campus by institutionalizing nonpartisan democratic engagement efforts that are resulting in the incredible student voter turnout rates that we鈥檝e seen across the country.鈥

The ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge [LINK: ] is a nonpartisan, national initiative recognizing and supporting campuses as they work to increase nonpartisan democratic engagement and full student voter participation. The Challenge encourages higher education institutions to help students form the habits of active and informed citizenship, and make democratic participation a core value on their campus.

More than 560 campuses, enrolling more than 6.2 million students, have joined the Challenge since its launch in summer 2016.

Shana Meyer, Vice President for Student Affairs said, 鈥淲e are proud to receive this national recognition for our efforts. These efforts have been driven primarily by our Student Government Association, but we are especially happy about our collaboration with faculty, staff, administrators, and students.聽 大象传媒 Western is committed to working together to reduce apathy, increase engagement, and graduate civic-minded students prepared to solve the country, and the world鈥檚, most pressing challenges.鈥

Student participation in elections has increased in the past few years. 鈥淚 am proud to honor 大象传媒 Western with an ALL IN Challenge Bronze seal in recognition of their dedication, hard work, and achievement,鈥 said Zaneeta E. Daver, director of the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge. 鈥湸笙蟠 Western is not only ensuring that a more representative population participates in our nation鈥檚 democracy, but is educating students to be civic-minded. They are an example to be emulated.鈥

The Challenge encourages higher education institutions to help students form the habits of active and informed citizenship, and make democratic participation a core value on their campus. 大象传媒 Western was an inaugural member of the Challenge.聽 By joining the Challenge, campuses commit to:

  • 颁辞苍惫别苍颈苍驳a campus-wide committee that includes members from academic affairs, student affairs, and the student body, as well as any other relevant stakeholders;
  • Developing and implementing聽an action plan to improve democratic engagement;
  • 笔补谤迟颈肠颈辫补迟颈苍驳in the National Study of Learning, Voting, and Engagement (NSLVE) in order to measure student voting rates; and
  • 厂丑补谤颈苍驳their聽campus鈥 action plan and NSLVE results in order to be eligible for a recognition seal and/or awards.

More than 300 campuses, enrolling more than 4 million students, have joined the Challenge since its launch in summer 2016.
