Looney Complex. The event is free and open to the public.

鈥淭his day provides an opportunity to recognize the courage and resilience of those who served, many of whom did not receive the welcome home they deserved,鈥 said Gabbie Falletta, director of the Center for Military and Veterans Services. 鈥淚n addition to recognizing and honoring our student veterans and community veterans, the day will serve to provide them with access to support they may not regularly receive.鈥

The day will include military history displays and resource tables from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Then from 3 to 4 p.m., story time will offer a powerful space for reflection, healing, and expressions of gratitude to veterans and their families for their service.

This training day is focused on strengthening our collective ability to recognize risk, respond appropriately, and connect service members, veterans, and students with the support they deserve,鈥 said Gabbie Falletta, director of the Center for Military and Veterans Services.

Training will be tailored to particular groups:

  • Counselors (8:30-11:30 a.m.)
  • Law enforcement officers (12:45-1:45 p.m.)
  • 大象传媒 faculty and staff (2-3 p.m.)

The event is sponsored by the 大象传媒 Center for Military and Veterans Services, the 大象传媒 Counseling Center, the 大象传媒 Social Work program and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

大象传媒 to remember 9/11 with memorial stair climb /news/2025/09/08/mowest-to-remember-9-11-with-memorial-stair-climb/ Mon, 08 Sep 2025 16:31:53 +0000 /news/?p=11949 firefighter memorial stair climb 9/11Sept. 8, 2025–The Center for Military and Veterans Services at 大象传媒 will host the fourth annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb on Thursday, Sept. 11 at Spratt Memorial Stadium.

Check-in begins at 8:00 a.m. at the west gate entrance to Spratt Stadium. The climb begins promptly at 8:46 a.m., the time the first tower was struck.

Participants will climb the equivalent of 110 flights of stairs, the same number found in the World Trade Center, in honor of the nearly 3,000 lives lost including the brave first responders who ran toward danger to save others.

The purpose of this event is to remember the heroic efforts of first responders, to pay tribute to the lives lost, to educate new generations and to never forget.

Those who cannot climb are encouraged to come to show support, helping keep the memory alive.

The event is free. Students, faculty, staff and community members are welcome.
