鈥淔谤补肠迟补濒蝉”

A spectacular show that gives viewers a tour of the fractals in nature, endlessly repeating patterns made from simple algebraic equations. While these fractal zooms are mathematical abstractions, audiences are always amazed to recognize that patterns of nature 鈥 shapes such as trees, lightning, coastlines, insects, bacteria, seashells and more 鈥 can all be found within a fractal zoom. Each fractal tells the story of the processes that created it.

“Nanocam”

A fascinating journey exploring life forms that are invisible to the human eye and contribute to a better understanding of the world we live in. This show explores the kingdoms of bacteria, protists and their stunning mechanism of motility, the amazing structure of fungi, the specializations of plants and incredible complexity of the animal kingdom, seen through an electron microscope 鈥 a breathtaking trip into the five kingdoms of living things. This unique program, based on a scientific approach and featuring images that have never been seen before, offers another dimension of reality, a reality that is measured in micrometers.

Wonders of the Universe

Peer deep into space through the eyes of the orbiting Hubble Space Telescope and travel back billions of years in time to witness the birth of the universe. On this breathtaking excursion, you鈥檒l witness the formation of galaxies and explore some of the most wondrous nebulae and astronomical structures yet discovered. As your travels continue, you鈥檒l fly deep into our own Milky Way galaxy and return home to Earth on a spectacular tour through the solar system.

Forces of Nature

Come close to nature鈥檚 most powerful and extreme forces. Cameras capture large-scale volcanoes, earthquakes, and storms as a team of scientists travel the world in an attempt to figure out what causes these dangerous, yet undeniably thrilling natural occurrences. Putting their lives on the line in the name of scientific discovery, the experts forge their way through erupting pits, through volcanic flows, along fault lines, and in cars heading straight for tornados鈥 eyes. “Lifestyles of the Stars”

This 鈥淎stroTours鈥 romp features a brilliant (but wacky) tour bus driver who takes the audience on a tour of the 鈥渉omes鈥 of the stars. A family of 鈥渟pace tourists鈥 asks all the right questions about stellar temperatures, composition, and stellar evolution. “Secret of the Cardboard Rocket”

Embark on an outstanding adventure as two children spend a night touring the solar system alongside their ship鈥檚 navigator, an astronomy book. This short is produced with modern 3-D digital animation and a soundtrack with spectacular effects created at George Lucas鈥檚 Skywalker Ranch.

Extreme Planets

For centuries, humanity has wondered whether we are alone in the Universe. Now, we are finally one step closer to knowing the answer. With the discovery in 1995 of the first planet orbiting another star, we now know that planets are not unique to our own Solar System. This production explores what makes a planet 鈥淓arth-like鈥 in the first place, and takes an immersive full dome tour of several worlds that just might fit the conditions we鈥檙e looking for.

Additional partners invest in the Houlne Center for Convergent Technology /news/2025/02/28/additional-partners-invest-in-the-houlne-center-for-convergent-technology/ Fri, 28 Feb 2025 15:37:53 +0000 /news/?p=11782 exterior of Houlne Center for Convergent TechnologyFeb. 28, 2025–Six more partners have invested in Saint Joseph and its skilled workforce through their support of 大象传媒鈥檚 new Houlne Center for Convergent Technology.

鈥淭he Houlne Center鈥檚 goal is to strengthen the region鈥檚 skilled workforce, and it will take people, programs, and places to make that happen,鈥 said Marc Archambault, vice president of advancement and executive director of the foundation. 鈥淭aken together, these additional gifts cover each of those core areas, supporting the Center鈥檚 general fund, additional facility expansion, instructional excellence and student scholarships.鈥

Nestle-Purina

A space near the Houlne Center鈥檚 front entrance has been named the Nestle-Purina Gathering Space in recognition of the company鈥檚 six-figure contribution to the project. The Nestle-Purina Gathering Space will be a starting point for tours for K-12 schools, economic development leaders, prospective college students, elected officials and employees of local companies participating in workforce training or mentoring students about future careers in industry or cybersecurity.

Bradley Family

Across the atrium from the Nestle-Purina Gathering Space, the Bradley Family Conference Room honors the generous support of St. Joseph鈥檚 Bradley family. Equipped with videoconferencing capabilities, the space will enable faculty-led student groups to interact virtually with and learn from manufacturing leaders throughout the region, the nation, or even the world. The Conference Room will also host delegations aimed at attracting new industries to the Saint Joseph region.

Thevenot Family

Through a gift-in-kind contribution from the Thevenot family, now operating as TEAM MIRACLE via its local, client-facing business, Veritas Systems Construction, the Center complex will expand with the addition of a 10,000-square-foot equipment storage facility adjacent to the main building. The new structure will be named the Thevenot Family Building in honor of original co-founders Martial Thevenot and his father Edouard Thevenot. The storage facility will initially serve as a space to house industrial vehicles, raw materials for the labs, and larger equipment when not in use. Utilities will be run to the building in the event that one day it might be converted into another industry teaching lab.

Beavers Charitable Trust

The Beavers Charitable Trust, a heavy civil engineering industry organization, has provided funds to establish a Professor of Practice in Construction Engineering Technology at 大象传媒 Western. 大象传媒 Western becomes only the second institution in the state, and one of only a few in the nation, to hold a Beavers professorship. Tiffany Davis will be the first faculty member to hold the new professorship. Professors of practice are specialized faculty members who are seasoned practitioners from business or industry able to draw extensively upon real-world experience. The new Professorship will help ensure the Houlne Center can deliver exceptional instruction in construction engineering technology, including offering students unique, real-world learning experiences like job-site or company field trips or the chance to compete against other college students in regional or national skills challenges.聽聽聽

Anonymous Donor

An anonymous donor has committed $100,000 per year for five years to provide scholarships for any students taking their lab classes in engineering technology or cybersecurity in the Center.

Pete and Paul Gray

Brothers Pete and Paul Gray each contributed $100,000 to establish the Joe Gray Memorial Scholarship for manufacturing students.

All told, nearly 30 partners have so far contributed over $7.2 million in private funding to make the Houlne Center a reality, including $6 million in general support, $500,000 for industry-experienced faculty support, and $700,000 for scholarships for students pursing Engineering Technology or Cybersecurity.
