August 12, 2026鈥摯笙蟠� has announced the names of the finalists to be the University鈥檚 seventh president. The finalists will be on campus next week for in-person interviews. The interview schedule will include an open forum which will give students, faculty, staff and the public an opportunity to hear presentations and ask questions of the candidates.

鈥淭he presidential search committee is pleased to have solid finalists who know 大象传媒 very well,鈥� said Bill Grimwood, chair of the Board of Governors and the search committee. 鈥淭he on-campus interview process will give our campus community and supporters an opportunity to get to know each candidate better and provide us with feedback as we consider the best fit for the University.鈥�

Dr. Jay Johnson
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, 大象传媒

Dr. Jay Johnson has been the provost and vice president for academic affairs at 大象传媒, where he also is a tenured associate professor in the Craig School of Business, since January 2025. In addition to his service at 大象传媒, Dr. Johnson has served in several roles during his 22-year career that includes being an associate provost at Northwest 大象传媒 State, a business dean at Fontbonne University, business management department chair at North Central 大象传媒 College, MBA program director at both Benedictine College and Friends University, and a variety of other faculty roles. Prior to joining higher education, Dr. Johnson was a farmer in Gallatin, 大象传媒 on his family farm, which is still in operation. Dr. Johnson holds an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of 大象传媒-Columbia, an MBA from William Woods University, and a BA in Business/Marketing from Truman State University.

Dr. Lenny Klaver

Dr. Lenny Klaver began serving as President of North Central 大象传媒 College (NCMC) in May of 2016. He has led the development of three consecutive comprehensive strategic plans. Under Dr. Klaver鈥檚 leadership, NCMC has expanded its academic and athletic program arrays and increased community engagement. In August 2023, the college opened a state-of-the-art satellite campus in Savannah, MO and in January of 2026, NCMC opened a new student center. Cumulative enrollment has increased 24% in the past 5 years and 17% during his tenure at the college during which time NCMC also graduated its four largest classes in history. Under his leadership and expertise, NCMC recently completed a successful capital campaign exceeding the original goal as set forth in the feasibility study. Dr. Klaver has served as a Vice President/Vice Chancellor at universities in Michigan and Wisconsin, respectively. In addition, he was a tenured faculty member at Wayne State College and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Klaver earned his doctorate in Educational Administration from the University of Northern Colorado in 1994 where his dissertation on Transformative Leadership received the prestigious Graduate Dean鈥檚 Citation for Excellence award.

Aug. 6, 2026鈥揟he 大象传媒 Alumni Association will honor nine individuals at the annual Alumni Award Banquet during Homecoming Week. Distinguished Alumni Award, the highest award given to a 大象传媒 alum, recognizes alumni for their career and professional achievements, civic contributions, service to the University and other qualities that reflect Griffon values. There are two recipients this year:

The Distinguished Faculty Award is given to a current faculty member in recognition of a lasting influence on students, excellence in teaching, career accomplishments and professional and ethical standards.

The Herb 鈥�35 and Peggy Iffert Award for Outstanding Service to the University recognizes an alum, retiree or other friend of the university who has shown outstanding and continuous commitment to 大象传媒鈥檚 mission, vision and legacy.

July 20, 2026鈥揂 refurbished elevated storage tank on Karnes Road in St. Joseph now reflects the central role 大象传媒 plays in the community. The 大象传媒 American Water tank was painted in Griffon Gold with a 大象传媒 logo prominently displayed on the west side.

鈥淎dding 大象传媒鈥檚 branding to the tank is a meaningful way to demonstrate our support for the University and help foster community pride,鈥� said John Hontz, senior manager of 大象传媒 American鈥檚 Northwest Operations. 鈥淎 recent inspection identified maintenance needs, which presented an opportunity to complete the painting as part of the same project.鈥�

鈥淭his recognition is a tremendous point of pride for 大象传媒 and our entire community,鈥� said Patt Lilly, interim president. 鈥淚t reflects the dedication, talent and spirit of the people who call St. Joseph home, while reinforcing the strong connection between 大象传媒 and the region we proudly serve. The Karnes Tank on Karnes Road was originally constructed in 1970 and holds 750,000 gallons of water. Storage tanks are critical components of a water system as they maintain water pressure, provide storage to meet peak customer demand and help ensure service reliability during emergencies, power outages and maintenance activities. They also support fire protection.

Located adjacent to Interstate 29, the tank is prominently visible and will continue to serve as an essential component of the water system while showcasing the university. 大象传媒 American Water, 大象传媒 and the St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting for the refurbished tank on July 20.

July 13, 2026鈥揟wo 大象传媒 Collegiate FBLA students finished in the top 6 at the National Leadership Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, in June. They competed against students from around the world with cash prizes awarded to the top 3 places in each event and trophies in the top 10.

Aden Monzon, senior accounting major from Oklahoma City, earned 2nd place in the Sports Management & Marketing event. Wyatt Fisher, junior management major with a concentration in entrepreneurship from Faucett, 大象传媒, received 6th place in the Business Law competition.

Also competing were Kylie Curtis, Ashton Roe, Valencia Chapman and James Phalen. Competitive events included Entrepreneurship, Business Law, Business Ethics, Marketing, Finance, Impromptu Speaking, Supply Chain and Sports Management & Marketing.

July 1, 2026鈥揂 composition by Dr. Derek Jenkins, associate professor of music at 大象传媒, has been selected for performance at the 21st Thailand International Composition Festival, July 5鈥�9, 2026, at Mahidol University in Salaya, Thailand.

鈥淩ock Bottom,鈥� Dr. Jenkins鈥� piece for brass band was chosen from among 200 submissions, with only 12 works ultimately selected for performance. The work will be performed by the Mahidol Brass Band during the festival.

The Thailand International Composition Festival is dedicated to the advancement of contemporary music and the cultivation of new artistic voices.The festival brings together composers, performers, scholars, and audiences from around the world to share ideas, explore new sonic possibilities, and foster meaningful artistic exchange.

Dr. Jenkins joined the 大象传媒 faculty in 2024. As a composer, his music has been performed throughout the United States, Europe, Canada, and Brazil. He received bachelor鈥檚, master鈥檚 and doctoral degrees from the University of 大象传媒 Kansas City and a master鈥檚 degree from Rice University.

June 30, 2026鈥揃oehringer Ingelheim and 大象传媒 have launched a new program to build the technical skills needed for careers in biomanufacturing. The program鈥檚 first class of students have completed the requirements to earn their certificates.

The Bio-Process Certificate Program combines traditional classroom learning with hands-on training at Boehringer鈥檚 purpose-built Technical Training Center in St. Joseph. Instruction is led by 大象传媒 faculty alongside Boehringer subject matter experts.

The Technical Training Center features dedicated spaces that replicate key upstream and downstream bioprocessing activities, such as transfer panels and tank-transfer simulations that mirror real production workflows, a fully equipped laboratory, and a gowning airlock. The facility also includes a functioning filling machine with restricted access barriers, enabling students to learn aseptic processes at their own pace鈥攐utside of cleanroom constraints or production shutdown windows.

June 15, 2026鈥揟he Kansas City Chiefs have announced dates for 2026 Chiefs Training Camp presented by Mosaic Life Care at 大象传媒 in St. Joseph, Mo. This is the 16

Open practices begin on Wednesday, July 29 and conclude on Thursday, Aug. 20. All training camp practices will be free of charge to the public unless otherwise noted below or online. Training camp tickets must be reserved in advance while supplies last at . Due to the expected interest and demand, attendance at daily sessions will be limited to provide the best fan experience. Ticket reservations will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 16 for Chiefs Season Ticket Members followed by the general public at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17. Fans can reserve a maximum of six tickets per practice and can reserve tickets for a maximum of three separate practices. Paid practice days will require advance payment to reserve tickets, while only Chiefs Season Ticket Members will have the option to reserve tickets for the exclusive Season Ticket Member days. Paid practice dates and Season Ticket Member dates do not count towards the maximum ticket reservation allotment of three practices. Chiefs Tailgate Suites will be available for purchase in the North Endzone for groups of 10 or more. Tailgate Suites offer a private viewing space next to the field with food & beverage and climate-controlled access in the Tailgate Suite. All tickets are mobile entry only through the Chiefs Mobile app. Tickets and parking are subject to the Chiefs ticket terms which can be found at . 大象传媒 Western will charge an $8 parking fee per vehicle per day, with the exception of the two exclusive Chiefs Season Ticket Member days when parking is free. Fans are required to pre-purchase parking, and that can be done during the ticket reservation process.

大象传媒 Western will charge a $7 admission fee on three different practice days 鈥� Saturday, Aug. 1; Friday, Aug. 7; and Saturday, Aug. 8 (Family Fun Day). The Chiefs will host two free, exclusive Season Ticket Member days that will not be open to the public 鈥� Wednesday, July 29 and Tuesday, Aug. 11. Ambassador Day will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 4 and Military Appreciation Day will be Thursday, Aug. 20. Team autograph sessions are scheduled to take place July 29, Aug. 1, Aug. 7, Aug. 8, and Aug. 11.
