
Guest clinician and artist Trent Austin
Feb. 5, 2024–The 大象传媒 Western School of Fine Arts will host the 17th annual Jazz Festival, featuring Trent Austin on trumpet, on Thursday, Feb. 8 from 8 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. The festival is open to the public and admission is free.
Nineteen school groups will perform in Fulkerson Center and Blum Union room 219 throughout the day.聽
Bob Long, MWSU Director of Jazz Studies, said the primary focus and commitment of this festival is making this an educational and musical experience for students and directors alike.聽
Clinicians for this year are Larry Green, Columbia; Dr. Bill Richardson, Northwest 大象传媒 State University; Wayne Page, Waukee, IA schools; and Kathleen Holeman, Vocal Jazz and Piano, 大象传媒 Western.
Trumpet artist, educator and entrepreneur Trent Austin will present clinics at noon and 6:15 in the Fulkerson Center, which will be open to the public. Austin has performed with a lengthy list of music鈥檚 Who鈥檚 Who, including Tony Bennett, Natalie Cole, Joe Williams, Clark Terry, Jack Jones, and many more. For eleven years, Austin was a featured trumpet soloist with the famed Artie Shaw Orchestra.聽
The festival will conclude with a short concert in the Fulkerson Center by the 大象传媒 Western Jazz Ensemble featuring Austin.
