Jan. 18, 2022–The Potter Gallery on the campus of 大象传媒 presents 鈥淔ate,鈥 a multimedia collaboration by two artists who attended 大象传媒 Western, Jan. 20 through Feb. 25. There will be an opening reception with light refreshments from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20. The reception and exhibition are free and open to the public.

鈥淔ate鈥 is a collaboration between 大象传媒 artists Laurel DeFreece and Robin VanHoozer, who both studied art at 大象传媒 Western. Their Artist Statement reads:

From today鈥檚 current events that foreshadow change tomorrow, Fate explores climate, nature, and the random riot of events that intertwine the common threads of our tomorrow and are at the forefront of issues affecting our world鈥檚 future. Encaustic, mixed media, and collage techniques combine to depict themes of nature, truth, time, and destiny in rural America. Our mission in creating Fate is to portray and document the incremental temperature increases plus dramatic weather events, throughout the Midwest, growing through time and how that affects farmers and rural communities and in turn urban centers.

The Potter Gallery, in the lobby of Potter Hall on 大象传媒 Western鈥檚 campus, is open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. There is no admission charge.
