Transgender activist Nicole Maines will speak at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 29 in the Kemper Recital Hall, Spratt Hall room 101 on the campus of 大象传媒. Maines鈥� talk, part of the Center for Student Involvement鈥檚 鈥淪tanding in Your Truth鈥� lecture series, is free and open to the public.
Maines was featured in the HBO documentary 鈥淭he Trans List鈥� and is the subject of the New York Times bestselling book 鈥淏ecoming Nicole鈥� by Amy Ellis Nutt. In 2014, the Maine Supreme Judicial Court case ruled that her school violated her rights by prohibiting her from using student restrooms.
Maines and her father will talk about Maines’ struggles and triumphs as a trans woman.
