It is the responsibility of each administering institution to determine how the disability will be reasonably accommodated in the testing process and for the proctor to ensure that the approved accommodation is in place.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Allowed Accommodations-<\/strong> Examples of requests for testing accommodations that may be provided include, but are not limited to, the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Modification of seating or the physical arrangements in the testing facility.<\/li>\n<li>Providing the examination to be taken in an accessible location.<\/li>\n<li>Use of an electronic reader.<\/li>\n<li>Providing for a reasonable extension of testing time. Please note that, while time extensions may be permitted, the total allocated time must never be split over more than one day. No accommodation should be provided that would compromise the security or integrity of the exam or require the testing institution or proctor to violate any of ATI\u2019s test administration requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Prohibited Accommodations-<\/strong> The following accommodations are prohibited:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Use of a camera or any other recording device.<\/li>\n<li>Providing verbal or other clues or prompts.<\/li>\n<li>Permitting the use of any electronic device (no phones, iPads, etc.).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Note: The exam is written and administered in the English language, and a lack of facility with the English language is not considered a disability. Interpreters should not be permitted inside the exam room for purposes of translating the test from English into another language for an examinee.<\/p>\n<p>Requests for accommodations will be processed as quickly as possible. Candidates should allow for a minimum of 30 days for processing, with the understanding that some cases may take longer. Candidates should include all the required documentation (see instructions below for what is required) with their initial request.<\/p>\n<p>To be considered for accommodations, please send the following to\u00a0<strong><a href=\"mailto:testing@missouriwestern.edu\">testing@missouriwestern.edu<\/a><\/strong> at least 30 days prior to signing up\/registering for for a testing date:<\/p>\n<p>Attach a letter from an objective physician or healthcare professional qualified to diagnose the disability or medical condition and render an opinion as to the need for an accommodation. An \u201cobjective\u201d professional is one who is not the requestor or related to the requestor. The letter must be dated within 2 years of the anticipated date of your exam. If you are a high school student, or post-secondary student who is within 2 years of high school graduation, an Individual Educational Plan (IEP) may be used in lieu of the letter provided the IEP is actively in place. The letter or IEP MUST include the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The specific disability\/diagnosis. Mental\/emotional disabilities must be accompanied by a numerical DSM &#8211; IV classification code.<\/li>\n<li>A brief explanation of how this condition limits the candidate\u2019s ability to take the exam under standard conditions.<\/li>\n<li>If this is not a permanent disability or diagnosis, include date first diagnosed, approximate duration, and method used to make the diagnosis.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Specific accommodations required. These accommodations should be adequate without creating an unfair advantage. Please note that candidates who require extra time to complete the exam will be given 1 1\/2 times the standard allotted time.
