A full-service national trade association with a nationwide network of chapters, AGC represents nearly 30,000 leading firms in the industry, including general contractors, specialty contractors and service providers and suppliers. It is the largest construction association in the United States.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_849\" style=\"width: 277px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/lamp1.missouriwestern.edu\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/ETAC-Banquet-054.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-849\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-849 \" alt=\"At the 2014 Engineering Technology Banquet, Grace and Al Landes were &quot;crowned&quot; to recognize Al's appointment as president of the Associated General Contractors of America. \" src=\"http:\/\/lamp1.missouriwestern.edu\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/ETAC-Banquet-054-267x300.jpg\" width=\"267\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-849\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">At the 2014 Engineering Technology Banquet, Grace and Al Landes were &#8220;crowned&#8221; to recognize Al&#8217;s appointment as president of the Associated General Contractors of America.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Landes has been with Herzog for more than 40 years, and he has held his current position since 2009. The company employs approximately 1,800 and completes projects around the world.<\/p>\n<p>In 2008, as president of the national Beavers, a heavy engineering construction association, Landes designated $100,000 in scholarships to 大象传媒 Western students in the Department Engineering Technology.<\/p>\n<p>The next year, he founded the Engineering Technology Advancement Committee, which provides private industry support to the department. Members of the committee raise funds for scholarships, endowments, specialized equipment and other needs; provide internship opportunities to current students; make guest speakers available; promote construction-related careers in northwest 大象传媒; and provide funding and support for 大象传媒 Western\u2019s Association of General Contractors Student Chapter.<\/p>\n<p>In 2013, he received the Community Excellence Award at 大象传媒 Western\u2019s Engineering Technology banquet. The award recognizes a member of the engineering technology industry who has shown outstanding and continuous commitment to advancing the field as well as support for the University\u2019s mission, vision and legacy.<\/p>\n<p>Landes received the Distinguished Alumni Award from 大象传媒 Western\u2019s Alumni Association in 2012.<\/p>\n<p>He is active in community service and is the past president of the board of the Sickle Cell Disease Research Foundation and was chairman of its fundraising and finance committees.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Al Landes \u201974, president and chief operating officer of Herzog Contracting Corp. in St. Joseph, Mo., was recently named president of the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC).
