Student-athletes and staff members granted Carson Powell&#8217;s wish of a colorful room makeover, leading a fundraising campaign to purchase the needed items and installing them in Carson&#8217;s room.<\/p>\n<p>They also hosted a special &#8220;Colors 4 Carson&#8221; recognition ceremony during a Griffon Basketball game where Carson and his family were joined by all Griffon student athletes for the presentation.<\/p>\n<p>The Student Athlete Advisory Committee spearheaded the service project, which\u00a0was named a finalist for the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncaa.org\/about\/resources\/media-center\/news\/division-ii-names-2020-award-excellence-finalists\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.ncaa.org\/about\/resources\/media-center\/news\/division-ii-names-2020-award-excellence-finalists&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1582049798451000&amp;usg=AFQjCNFnBbn-agfDFDf069CNXzQciqrBDw\">2020 NCAA Division II Award of Excellence<\/a>, which\u00a0recognizes initiatives that exemplify the Division II philosophy, community engagement and student-athlete leadership.
